NorthWapiti's Draco

NorthWapiti's Draco
November 5, 1997 - December 27, 2010

Draco had been doing wonderfully and really not showing his age at all until a few weeks ago when he started being a bit of a picky eater. In a blink of an eye it went to him totally refusing food. A trip to the vet basically confirmed that he was likely battling cancer. We tried some meds and moving him into the house but by yesterday he was making his wishes clear.

He was a big and beautiful boy. A force in harness, successful in the show ring and just a pleasure to have around.

His daughters Rocket, Bang and Bingo are some of the most significant leaders in the yard right now.

I'm still coming to grips with the thought of him being old. The thought of him being 'gone' is simply inconceivable.

My friend Jackie has told me many times that Draco and his brother, Orion were for her, the embodiment of a 'NorthWapiti' dog. That was/is okay by me - he was a wonderful Siberian in body, spirit and soul.

Goodbye Crazy Whiskers. I hope you know how much you were loved.

Karen sorry for your loss. This has been a rough December for you and all of us reading and following.

Just think, Jesus has one heck of a dog team forming up there :) I bet they are having a blast preparing for the Iditarod in heaven.

So very sorry, Karen. It is never easy for us, but they carry the love we shared with them. And one day, we'll meet again.

Karen i just can't believe the time you are haveing at the moment.
My thoughts are with you and NW as always.
I can say with a true heart, that Draco was my Favourite from G park and very close to the hole yard.
His personality and love of life will always be remembered.

Karen I am so very sorry to hear of another loss from the geriatric park. It is never easy to let them go, but you have had more than your fair share of that this month.

Karen, as soon as I logged on and saw Draco's picture, I just said "Oh No", I knew without scrolling any further. I'm so sorry for you and Mark and all of us that follow NW so closely. I know Draco is not suffering anymore, and is at peace----the tears are really for the rest of us. It is hard to know that he is gone, now, too.

Karen & North Wapiti gang,
Have no doubt, he knew how much he was LOVED! I'm so glad I got to spend a little bit of time with him at the Iditarods and our visit to the kennel. As soon as you saw him you were hooked. I know he will always have a special place in the heart of the kennel. Rest in peace buddy!

Oh Karen, my condolences to you and Mark and the whole crew. I agree with Jackie - Orion and Draco were perfect Siberians. Can't believe he's gone, either.

Hi Karen.
I came across your blog from Coffee with a Canine.

I'm very sorry to hear about the loss of your boy, Draco. Losing a dog is hard, accepting that they are gone forever, that you no longer can see them, hug them, love them, that's much harder.
I know he is happy in the Rainbow Bridge watching down on all of you.
