2014 Iditarod Announcement - Bet

Just to let the fans know, that at on Tuesday, March 4, 2014 at 6:40pm the Iditarod Director/Race Marshall withdrew the Musher from the race due to a significant injury to her hand.

The Musher wanted to continue, which meant she felt that the injury would not hinder her from continuing the race, or more importantly, hinder her from caring for her dogs.  The Musher would never put her dogs at risk and would have voluntarily scratched if she felt she could not take care of them.

Here is the official Press Release from the Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race HQ: Click here for official announcement seen below

That's very unfortunate Karen. I was looking forward to watching you and the pretty curly tails cross the finish line. I am glad however that you and your dogs are safe.

Argh, bummer, bleah.
But glad you and the curly tails are safe.
If it was easy, everybody would be doing Iditarod. (I know I couldn't!)
Hoping for better luck next year!

I'm very sorry to hear this news. Heal quickly, and I'm happy everyone is safe.

What a sad and unfortunate ending to this year's dream for Karen, her dogs and her family, both blood and extended.

That totally sucks for Karen. But, it is always best to be safe first. Conditions this year are just so bad. I sure hope Karen will heal quickly and am glad all the pups are ok.
