NorthWapiti's C4

NorthWapiti's C4
May 22, 2010 - October 31, 2010

C4 toughed it through 2 major surgeries at 8 weeks of age and for the last 3 months seemed to be making a wonderful and complete recovery. However yesterday he began to have the same intestinal issues again. I spoke with our vet who gave us the unfortunate news that we were left with no further surgical options on our tough little guy.
We spent the night doing everything we could to help his system rally but by this morning it was obvious that we needed to step in and bring his fight to an end.

He was a cool little guy with a tremendous fighting spirit. He deserved more.

Special thanks to the wonderful vets and staff at the Westlock Veterinary Clinic, especially Dr. Trevor Jackson, who pulled out all the stops to give C4 every chance possible.

And, of course, special hugs to C4's great friend, Corrine. We know he loved you as much as you loved him, Corrine!

I am so saddened by your story and very sorry for your loss. What a beautiful boy with a fighting spirit. May he be running carefree in the wide open fields over the Rainbow Bridge. We are all truly sorry.

So sorry for the loss of a second puppy in less than 6 months. We all know you love these fellows with your whole heart. But for those who believe pets live on now Hambone has a buddy toromp with.

I too am so sorry for the loss of your beautiful little guy. I had to end the fight for my Kota last week and the hole in my heart is huge, but I know the suffering is over and he is running free and playing with all his Husky friends. Sending hugs to you and your family.

I was fortunate enough to meet C4...what a great little trooper. As all of Karen's dogs do, they make a great impact on our lives.
Sleep well young one and wear your Silver Harness with pride. We will watch for you in the Northern Lights.

Dear Karen & Family,
Again my heart aches for all of you. I remember in the spring when C4 & his sibs were born. Such a beautiful litter, as are all of your pups. It's hard to believe his life was so short.
Every time I read about one of your dogs passing it always brings me to tears. I have a son w/Down Syndrome, who does not like to see me sad,he just asked "Mom,why you eyes tear, no you be sad".
He doesn't understand death so I just told him a friend was sick.
Since you are like a friend to us all & you are heartsick I don't feel like I was lying.
May C4 run free & forever stay young.
Deepest sympathies, Sitka's Mom

I'm so sorry to hear about C4. I was hoping that he'd be a little miracle guy with part of his colon removed. I was hoping to meet him in a year or two. Now I guess he's with his brother now.

Sorry Karen to be reading this news. Your right about the West lock Vets and Trevor is the best isn't he. No doubt C4 was given every chance to have a good life...And a good life he no doubt had with you guys. Life never promises longevity does it.
Thinking of you and your family and Corrine. Another soldier has gone home

I am saddened by your loss of C4, and so sorry, Karen. Just looking at the posted photo of him running, so happy, brings tears to my eyes. However, think of him as another one of the "gang" waiting for you over the Rainbow Bridge!

Oh Karen, I'm so sorry for your loss of C4. I know that he had the best shot at making it that could possibly be given---but that doesn't make it any easier. Like most everyone else I'll just picture him running and tumbling with Hambone. What a wonderful little guy he was.

So sorry to read this sad news. You did everything possible for him - hard to explain these events. Our sympathies. Spider, Batdog and Junior are standing around me howling, wondering why I am crying as I write this. I guess they are giving C4 a North Wapiti farewell.

It's tough for the humans too Karen. I know you had another loss recently. Well, we know that these great atheletic friends are with the Godspeed group waiting.
Some day, some day, we'll be back on the runners and on the grounds with all of them. Think of all the pretty sled dogs that will be.
