Everything A Musher Needs...And One Thing They Don't.

Mark and Mike (our handler last fall) built me this GREAT harness rack

I just love it!!! It is so handy for storing all kinds of things mushers like to have 'at hand'...
...like harnesses....

Necklines....(although the supply is low right now)...safety vests...

...helmets for scootering...
...and these two cute little guys (a gift from Colleen) that serve no purpose but to make me smile...

...but most nights it contains one thing NO musher needs.

Look closely at the left side of the harness rack ....

...here let me move closer....

A white footed cat.

Yup, it's Bait aka the bane of my existence.

This is his new 'favorite hangout' ..

I suppose that he likes it because it is close to the dog yard - and he really loves to think he is part of the dog yard - but still relatively safe. At least in his furry little mind.

Why can't we just have a 'normal' cat???

 *sigh*

PS. I'd like it to go on record that I put myself in serious jeopardy in order to get the pictures to accompany this blog.

Ah, the lengths I will go to for my blog!!!! I hope you all appreciate it! =)

Our Siberian is currently sharing quarters with a friend's "suicide cat". Pretty unusual - the dog is OK with cats and tries to avoid confrontation with them - pretty good for a Siberian - but the cat isn't OK with the dog.

The other day he actually tried to advance and push her off of her food dish. A 24 kg Sibe vs. a 5 kg cat - go figure. I stepped in and pushed the cat away. Cat went around me and again charged at the dog. I pushed him away more assertively and that time he got the message.

One of these times I'll give the cat his wish and let them have at it with the Sibe. It won't be pretty; I've seen hewr prey instinct in action.

Bait is trying to be sooooo cute. I can't figure why you two don't get along.

Is it my emagination, or is Bait a polydactyl cat, at least on the front paws? Ah, the life of the dog yard cat.

Normal cat??? That is an unusual phrase.

No Louise, in that regard he is normal.

Bait can't be a normal cat, because that is an oxymoron. Cats do not have the capacity to be "normal". They think they are fine the way they are. And isn't "normal" relative? You know, like the standards in dogs, it's all in the interpretation.

I'm new to NW, but I am loving your blogs and pictures! I'm thinking when our weather turns cooler I need one of those NW Sweatshirts! :)

Karen - Don't you get it??? Bait just wants to win your love so he tries to hang out in all places that you'll be at.

Okay, I'm not much of a cat lover myself, but those are really cute pictures!

Bait is working to prevent birds from roosting on that ledge. Isn't the absence of bird doo-doo on the dog harnesses worth something?

The absence of bird droppings IS a good thing, HuskyMom !
