Facebooking From Afar

I make no bones about the fact that I'm rather addicted to Facebook! I think it is a great and easy way to keep in touch with many friends spread far and wide, which I am lucky enough to have!
So, it is not surprising that when I got internet access in South Africa, right after I checked my email, I logged into Facebook - or tried to!
See Facebook has a neat little security feature that recognizes if you log in from somewhere other then your normal locale. "Great idea", I thought when I first got the security warning. It proceeded to tell me I'd have to take a quiz to prove I was me. "No problem", I thought, "I know me fairly well!"
And then the quiz popped up. Match 7 of your friends with their pictures. You can pass on two but must get all five you answer correct.
"Gulp"
See, I currently have over 1600 friends on Facebook and, honestly, I don't know most of them to see them.
Still, maybe I'd luck out - after all I do know alot of them - or so I thought.

Round one to Facebook. I couldn't get in.
Day two - Facebook two, Karen zero.
Day three - "Have you seen your husband's Facebook post?" a friend asked. No, I hadn't.
Day four - VICTORY!!!!!!

I felt like I had just won the lottery!! By the time I got back to England I was petrified. What if I had to 'prove' myself again?? How many days would it take to get lucky this time??? Thankfully the UK is apparently close enough to Canada (only 6400 km or so away, after all) that it didn't care. PHEW!!

Maybe I need to weed out some friends on my page?? Or maybe I just won't play on Facebook when I'm on holidays anymore. Seriously, what am I saying??? Maybe I'll just bypass holidays in the future - after all, I can just chat with my friends on Facebook from my kitchen table!!!

Maybe I need help!

=)

I experienced the same moment of panic on Saturday--FB Australia made me prove myself--FB USA never made me do that! There must be a 12 step program for us, you think?

Wow - I seriously doubt that I could pass that test either since, like you, many of my FB friends are cyber world only.

Even more difficult because so many friends use an image of their dog(s) on FB, or change their image often. Kudos for getting it right on day 4!

I'm fairly addicted to FB also and would have felt a little panicky if I hadn't been able to get on. Thanks for being "friends" to so many people on FB and allowing us to follow what's going on at NorthWapiti!
