Where's The Beef??? (A Post Hijacked by Bet)

So, howdy ho everyone, its your roving border collie reporter, Bet, here! The Musher promised to tell the story behind this picture, and she started it... then had to go run off with Richard to do some "thing" in Calgary, so I figured I'd hijack her blog post and tell you what happened here

Yeah, so there we were, just out playing with the curly tails like we normally do.  Nice day, pretty flowers and the leaves are starting to turn colors and it made me think about that wonderful Gucci collar I was admiring on e-bay the other day, when all of a sudden, this clearly rabid and feral cow thing comes stomping out of the woods!

Of course I can't be too sure that it was actually rabid, but what mignon on hooves tries to stomp all over packs of Pretty Curly Tails?  The Musher didn't have to tell me what to do, I just leapt into action, even though the vicious walking steak could have been packing a gun or knife.

Using the skills I learned from the Interwebs, I distracted the moorauder with slight of paw, then placed it into a submissive position by using the double shooting star press by jumping forward performing a backflip into the midair, and landing into the bovine's chest first in a press style, thus rendering it unable to harm the Curly Tails.

Both the Musher and Richard were able to continue along with their training run with the Curly Tails, and then we all had roast for dinner.

A Surprise For Me! - Bet

Howdy Ho everyone its me, your soon to be roving Border Collie reporter, Bet, here!

The Musher told me yesterday that I have 2 days until my big surprise, which means my big surprise comes tomorrow!

I love surprises, but a surprise should be a surprise and you don't tell the surprisee that there will be a surprise because then its not really a surprise now is it?  I mean if you humans were throwing a surprise party for someone, you wouldn't say "in two days you'll get a surprise" because then you're expecting SOMETHING in two days and then the only real surprise is that its a party and not... maybe someone hitting you in the face with a pie or something... although a party would be better, but getting hit in the face with a pie would still be a surprise, so I guess what I'm getting at is that sometimes surprises aren't that nice... which has me concerned.

The Musher has said that she is sending me off to the New Zealand place to herd sheepie things, which would definitely be a surprise, but not a good surprise

And the Musher even said something about me herding... gulp... COWS!
That wouldn't be a good surprise either.

You know... I would be happy with getting a pie in the face... I think I'd rather have that... especially if it was banana cream pie, or waffle pie or something nice like that.

North Wapiti In Review (7- 11 August 2011)

A wrap-up of events that happened at North Wapiti in the past week

Bet had some not so breaking news about the Musher registering for the 2012 Iditarod.

Karen will be in Calgary  September 16-18 for A Weekend of Mushing for Everyone  click on the link to find out more information!

Turtle is having some difficulties figuring out which way is forward... but he'll get there with some time

Yearlings Fletch and Todd sorting out the whole "puddles are good" thing

North Wapiti is still looking for a handler for this winter (Dec - April), so please contact us if you might be interested and we can provide you with more details.

Bet opens up sponsorship to everyone, and announces a contest

Bet and Karen were going to head out to run the Tramplings on Tuesday, but Cricket and the "big dogs" were telling them there were creatures lurking in the woods that morning, so no Trampling running that day.  Karen speculates that it was likely a coyote or a deer, but there are also moose, elk, and bear.  She also saw some wolf tracks a few weeks back, and there was a rumor that a cougar was prowling the valley.  Of course she also confided that the dog yard doesn't always "comment" on people coming into the yard, and they are often shocked by visitors to their door without having a clue they even pulled in, but if those visitors show up a "unexpected" hours or if they step off the path to the front door... they will be notified.

In a very common theme, Karen wonders what it would be like to have normal pets  Which prompted Bet to post a "normal" blog update while wearing a tartan snuggie and dillyboppers.

Karen points out the Neo really thinks highly of himself
That Cricket is FAR from normal

Bet is very upset that the Barrista at Starbucks asked if she was a Sheltie

On Thursday Karen found that the neighbor's cows were down behind the handler cabin.  Bet was ignoring them, Cricket watched them suspiciously, and Bait was stalking them.  There wasn't enough light for a picture, but here is the Cartoonist's rendering of the event.

Finally, Crickiet went to the vet yesterday for her rabies and general check up.  We are now playing: Guess the Cricket weight
