This Could Have Been Bad....

...but actually it worked out quite well.

I had young Billie in lead today when we came across this...

Turns out the county is knocking down a bunch of trees alongside the road. They had a few pieces of heavy equipment pushing stumps around, slash piles burning and trees being moved.

Spider trotted through the confusion watching everything with interest. Billie made it past the first piece of heavy equipment, but I could tell she wasn't really sure about it all.
When we pulled close to the Cat tractor noisily pushing up stumps, she hit the brakes and ended up balled up back in the team.

I hoped off the ATV and headed up to sort out the tangle planning on swapping her out for one of the more experienced dogs - but the second I stepped off the ATV the workers realized the situation and everything at the site stopped. Way cool!!!

I was able to untangle Billie, give her a bit of reassurance and off we headed with her still in lead thanks to some patient, understanding County of Athabasca workers!

A good, positive experience for a nice young leader!!! Thanks Guys!!!

Really nice of them. LOoks like the road crew took their sign "Be Prepared to Stop" seriously. ;)
