An Entry By Rocket Ramstead

Hello, I'm Rocket Ramstead. I thought that I'd take a moment to share with you what I did on my summer holiday.
Now us rough, tough Iditarod dogs don't have the same definition of 'summer holiday' as most of you. The NorthWapiti crew gets a bit of May and June off for 'holidays'.
I know June isn't actually over yet, but I'm a 'keener' so I usually get my projects done early!!
At the start of holidays I spent some time debating what I was going to do. Playing with my neighbors, Jinx, Dasher, Crackle and See is fun but I wanted something more...substantial.
I also wanted something that would keep my upper body buff so I was ready for lots of 'Rocket Dances' once the season started.

Finally it hit me - I'd tap into the Siberian strengths of landscape architecture and structural engineering and put a basement in my doghouse.

I am SO pleased with how it turned out!

Notice how I took advantage of the roots that run through my run to give my design the support it needs! (That's Stupid See in the background. She is VERY jealous of my improvements!)

And yes, there are 2 entrances to the basement - one of the north side of my house and one at the back!

I've also redone my water bucket to give it a 'grunge' look that blends well the the sand/wood theme that I have chosen for my decorating scheme.

In this shot I instructed Mom to move my water bucket so you can fully appreciate the care I put into my work!!

Thanks to my careful design and execution my house is still stable and I have a GREAT new space to hang out in!!

See?? Totally stable! Are you impressed??? I know I am!! Now if I could just get my paws on the squirrel that lives behind Crackle, I'd host a dinner party in my basement!!

Great job Rocket! You should be proud of yourself, all that work and design that went into your new basement.

Way to go, Rocket. Your are certainly most industrious and we are proud of your amazing engineering skills. We always forget that stability part in our excavation projections.

Excellent. I think you should start holding classes on how best to achieve most impressive makeover status. I'm totally impressed by your use of naturally occurring landscape details. I'm certain it helped with your 'buffness' as well.

Obviously your innate sense of "balance" that allows you to dance so well also makes you excel in other husky endeavors. Kudos!

Well done, Rocket --- are you for hire? If so, what do you charge, and is it by the hour, or by the project?

Yup, looks familiar. Last week I was making my morning coffee, looked out the window in the pre-dawn light and wondered why the dog house was tilted on its side! Went out to see it had fallen into a cave!

Dear Rocket Ramstead

I am very very impressed with your design skills. Would you like to come to my house and help out here?

Best wishes

p.s. my mum is friends with the Cartoonist, which is how I found you.

Wow Rocket! Did you do all the excavation work yourself? So talented, a designer and a craftsdog. Truely a Renaissance dog.

So, what do Chinese dogs have for breakfast?

Maybe you should ask your Mom for a climbinb wall next to your house... Your dancing and landscaping skills are impressive; how are your climbing skills?

Darn, if I had known you had such a talented excavator, I would have asked her to help us dig the 25m long, 2m deep line for water we just did couple days ago! :o)

Rocket is adorable, BTW!!!

Rocket, you are such a talented, beautiful dog & I just love the way your Mom is able to portray your stories. You are both so lucky to have each other, not to mention all the other beautiful family members & running mates you have. I look forward to this blog every evening!
