Sore Toes - Bet

The other day I posted on the Facebooks that I had sore toes.

Why?  Well because we're suppose to share all of our intimate secrets on the Facebooks, like for instance, Tic ate some of Cricket's poo the other day.... oh wait, you were asking why I had sore toes, not why was I posting on the Facebooks... ok, I get it...

I had sore toes because I'm always in training.  Once a Border Collie, always a Border Collie, and frankly my job is WAAAAY more difficult that the regular baa baa sheepie thing Border Collies because baa baa sheepie things don't run at a gazillion miles per hour for hours and hours and hours and... ok, you probably get the picture.  I have to run a lot and without my official crampy toe masseuse on stand-by (Musher Mark works hard, the Musher works hard, there's no gullible handlers around and a certain someone who I won't name lives IN ANOTHER COUNTRY!)... anyhoo I digress.

So, with sore toes I was on probation and to keep me occupied, the Musher put some of my delicious Eagle Pack brand kibble in my worry ball for me and locked me in the house where I couldn't go herdy herd the Pretty Curly Tails while she was gone.

Did I mention that Eagle Pack was the official dog food of myself and the Pretty Curly Tails?  Chock full of goodness!
Tasty Tasty Foods!
Anyhoo, where was I?

Oh yes, so since I was home alone, I got on the computer and posted about my sore toes on the Facebooks.

Well, little did I know that this would cause a firestorm of helpful suggestions.  Accupuncture (euw, needles, no, too much like those beady eye pokey pokey hummingbird things), massage (I wouldn't have sore toes if I had a full time crampy toe masseuse, and the Musher said "NO" she wasn't going to pay for that), waffles (I'm all for that) put my favorite food in the worry ball (two paws up on that), blah blah, other good stuffs and things...

Except I wish all of you had been a bit more specific about these treatments because when the Musher came home and read them all, the next thing you know, there's shrimp and pasta in my worry ball and my feet are wrapped in waffles...

I'm not cleaning out that worry ball, and the waffles tasted like fritos.

Cookbook Reminder - Bet

Since I've been on the road, I've neglected to do some of my other duties, so I'm taking today to play catsup (hehehe, get it) and do some of my administrationally duties for North Wapiti.

I wanted to remind everybodies about the cookbook!  We had such an overwhelming scramble on the Facebooks to get a copy, that we are going to do a second printing on "When Kibble Just Won't Cut it", the extrafabulousness cookity cook book gleaned from the history of the Musher's tasty foods, and other peoples tasty foods.  It is chock full of tastiness!

We've opened up the pre-orders because we will only be printing enough to cover the pre-orders... so if you want it, you HAVE to pre-order it.  We won't have them available for later... just warning you!

We also modified the paypal button so those peoples in Australia and the UK don't have to bug Helen (who smells of the same cookies you can find in the cookbook) to ask for a price.  It's a much easier button too, just one button for everybodies that has a drop down menu, and you can order multiple copies as well.

Just go HERE, click HERE... right HERE!!!

If you forget to click up there, you can also click on the HUGE picture of the cookbook on the right hand side of the blog and it'll take you to the pre-order page also.  If you are on a mobile device, the reader won't let you see it, you have to go on a real computer to see the right hand side menu.

For those of you who are like "umm... I just don't know... how tasty could the recipes in this book be?  I just don't know if I want the cookbook"  I say to you... all recipes are BET APPROVED, and here is a sample of one of my most favorite recipes in the book... once you take a gander at this, you WILL want one... I said so!

Dear Ms. Jenny - Bet

Howdy Ho Everybodies!!!

Recently I received this lovely e-mail from Ms. Jenny.  I lived at Ms. Jenny's until I found my calling with the Pretty Curly Tails.

Dear Bet,
Your grandnephew, Try, who is all of 3 months old, turned on to sheep today and bossed them around pretty good.

Don't you feel just a little bit ashamed? :)

Love,
Jenny

PS I'm glad you found a second calling training up the PCT.

Here is my response to Ms. Jenny

Dear Ms. Jenny,

I'm very proud that my grandnephew, Try, likes bossing around the baa baa sheepie things (until they show their evil selves and attempt to stomp him with their stompy stompy hoove things... and stuffs and he changes his mind).

I am still enjoying my job here at North Wapiti Kennels and am staying in peak shape with my custom NASCAR snow race track:

I am also in the process of inventing a new form of transportation that will take the world by storm!  Not only is it energy efficient, clean for the environment... well, there is some exhaust emissions that need to be scooped up with a shovel, but it is also very comfy and warm.  I do hope that when we celebrate the grand opening of our new show room that you come join us for some waffles and shrimp, and test drive the new "Baa Baa Sheepie Thing Utility Vehicle" (BBSTUV)!

All Work and Some Play - Bet

A Border Collie's work is never done, it seems.

The Minions have told me that its hard for people to find out where to buy all of the cool North Wapiti stuff that we have to offer, so I spent all morning on the computer creating a little shop where everyone can find all of the goodies!

Not only does the shop have things that come exclusively from North Wapiti, but it also has links to the Cafe Press store (where you can buy North Wapiti logo items and coming soon, more fun calendars to choose from for next year!), and where you can buy the Pretty Sled Dogs DVD that doesn't feature me, but is still really cool to watch and see just how the Musher does her mushing with the Pretty Curly Tails. I highly recommend it!

Now all you have to do is click the button at the top of the blog on the right that looks like this:

And it will take you straight to the store!  Isn't that handy?  I thought you'd like it!

After I was done with all of the work, I decided to spend the rest of the day doing dog-like things for a change.  It was a nice day and all, and its been a while since I've played with the Tramplings.  They are getting older now, and they try to act all grown up and serious, so its always fun for me to go out there and play tricks on them.  I guess you can call it payback.

First I go out and I pretend as though I'm just going to lay in the sand and mind my own business.  Nothing to see here, just catching some rays and feeling the sand squish through my feets.

Then I start digging a hole, just a little hole, and when you dig a hole, you have to pile the sand up somewhere... yep, just digging a hole, nope I don't need any help, just digging.

Golly gee, look at the hole I've dug, and the sand is piled up pretty high... its so high up that I don't think the Tramplings can see me at all, hehehehe.

Nope, I don't think they can see me, because they're arguing over whether the beetle they're sniffing is a leptinotarsa decemlineata, or a Callosobruchus maculatus... they really need to stop watching the Science Channel and get a life.

Hehehe, now is my chance to sneak up on them using my keen Border Collie stalking technique

I'm invisible, nobody can see me... I stalk like the wind, totally ready to pounce at a second's notice to herd the Tramplings back to their houses... I am Ninja Bet.

What??? Breakfast is ready?

Hey, Ninjas have to eat too you know!

What Do You Mean a Trade? - Bet

This morning the Musher announced that she found the most wonderful winter handler!

Her name is Sarah Campbell and she's from the New Zealand place, and as you can see, she's very familiar with the curly tails
©2011 Sarah Campbell
Here she is mushing with her curly tails: Polar, Stig, Lutek, and Indy!

The Musher is very honored to have her come to North Wapiti and care for the Pretty Sled Dogs this winter.  Of course she will need some basic training... first and foremost she'll need to take the mandatory crampy toe massage therapy course.
The toes have been VERY crampy since the Musher went gallivanting off to New Zealand, but she's on her way back even as I type this with my crampy toes.  At first I was happy to hear that she'll be coming back, but then she posted this on the Facebook thing:

"Bet - GREAT NEWS!!! I have arranged with Ray and Diane that you can come out to Irishman Creek for a month or so. You can hang out with Frosty and learn how to be a 'kick butt' 'herding dog'. It'll be sweet - 8200 sheep that will be need shearing soon and then will be lambing. Plus when you get good at bossing the Merino sheep around, you can move up to herding the Angus cattle. Start packing!!!! - The Musher "

8,200 sheepie things?  That's a lot of... sheepie things.  I'll wait until you get home and I'll explain to you just why this isn't going to happen... after you fix me some waffles.

By the way, we haven't forgotten about the Iditarod Insider drawing... we're waiting for the Musher to get home for the drawing, so stay tuned for that, and you still have some time until we announce that we're closing the entries to become an Insider and be eligible for the drawing

Post Race Update - Bet

What?

Post Race Update now?  Um, Musher, turn off the camera, I told you I would get to it after breakfast!

Sigh... no, I told you that as soon as I finished breakfast I would get on the computer, if Musher Handler Guy Mark is done playing Angry Birds and write the post-race update!

Yes I did tell you that, while you were doing that silly boxing Wii exercise thing, and frankly I have no idea why you listen to that cartoonist, she's a bit goofy in the head and probably looped on Nyquil when she told you about that thing.  I didn't slave over a hot waffle griddle just to let my breakfast grow cold you know.

You know, the longer I sit here and argue with you, the longer its going to take me to eat and go post, so I'm pretty sure you have something to knit, or feed, or clean up after... like all that mushing gear that I had to lay on allll the way back from Prince Albert in a can, that stuff reeks you know!

I'm not listening to you now, blah blah blah, keep talking, I'm just going to enjoy my waffle and pretend you aren't here.

You know what, fine, I'm going to take my breakfast and eat it on the cloud.  Hope you're happy.
