Our Evening

It was a NASCAR night race last night, so after dinner Simone fled for the cabin and I fled for the woods with my walking companions.

The walk started off pretty much as normal, heading out down the driveway...

...but fairly quickly we turned off the beaten path and down our new neighbours driveway. Everyone loved that - well, except Tic. He headed home. He doesn't like exploring the woods with us.
Bait, on the other paw, loves it.

It's pretty easy to keep track of the white footed hairball too when I have the rare pointing Border Collie along.

Cricket keeps watch over us all..

...well, unless she finds some exciting bear scat to roll in...

Just one of the many reasons she doesn't live in the house!

Kara is harder to get pictures of, as she is usually pretty close to me. I'm not sure whether she is protecting me or relying on me to protect her. Either way I just enjoy her company!

Fall is definitely in the air. Leaves are changing...

...berries are plentiful...

Heck, I actually had to put a jacket on for the walk!

When we came to an intersection and took the longer turn home, Kara, Bet and Bait bound ahead of me. Cricket shot me a disgusted look and headed home through the woods.

Oh well, so much for my protection detail!!

I love this picture of Kara coming over the top of this hill to check on me. I lightened it up, but then put it back as it was. I like it better dark!

It really is a lovely, lovely time of year.

As we came within sight of the driveway I could see there was a white bump at the gates.

She claims she was keeping watch on us the whole time from here. I'm not buying it!

Oh well, she's forgiven!!

I love my evening walks.

I only went out for a walk, and finally concluded
to stay out until sundown:
for going out, I found, was really going in."

Karen, you are such a hoot! I love how everything you do seems to be an adventure. And Cricket...imagine if she really could tell you those things.
