Hide and Seek - Bet

Howdy ho everybuddy, its your roving Border Collie reporter turned babysitter in the off season, Bet here!

Its boring here.  Seriously... dull.  Although I like the nice weather and all of the flowers and pretty things blooming, the Pretty Sled Dogs are NOT impressed at all with spring.  The highlight of their day is running in front of the ATV and throwing themselves into water.

Of course, there's never a dull moment in my chores.  As the official Curly Tail Herder, its my job to teach the Tramplings a myriad of things, like running, running back, being quiet for 3 seconds, and listening when the Musher or anyone else bigger than them says to do something.

That's where I get to today's lesson:  Hide and Seek

I figured it would be a good exercise to teach them how to play hide and seek.  They go hide and I go take a nap.  A win-win, as I get some peace and quiet while they hide, and... well, I get a nap.

Unfortunately, they just aren't getting the hang of it.  I would close my eyes and count to 24 while they scurried off to find good hiding spots... but they just can't keep their mouths shut.  You can hear them from a mile away.  Neo was shrieking "BET WILL NEVER FIND ME IN THE DOG HOUSE!"... um... sigh.

So, we tried it the other way around.
Ok Tramplings.  This time all of you will close your eyes and count to 24 while I go hide... because that's how many toes you have... because I need to have time to find a spot to hide from you... because its called "Hide and Seek"... JUST CLOSE YOUR EYES AND COUNT TO 24!!!

I had the perfect hiding spot all picked out.  I was going to hop in the dog truck and take a nap, but thought I'd give them one easy find first so they wouldn't get discouraged, so I picked a nice spot between two rocks in their puppy pen.

Of course the Trampling version of counting to 24 went something like this:  1, 2, 4... 24!  Which didn't give me a whole lot of time.

I FOUND YOU AUNTIE BET!!!

Yep... you sure did... ok, how about we...
THERE YOU ARE AUNTIE BET!!!  HEY, HAVE YOU BEEN EATING THE CAT FOOD AGAIN?

Um, no... NO!  I don't eat the cat food, and yes you found me, so how about we....
THERE YOU ARE AUNTIE BET!  THIS GAME IS FUN!

Right... yeah, woohoo, you found me, ok, how about we...

THERE YOU ARE AUNTIE BET, WE FOUND YOU!

Yes, yes you did, good job Tramplings, but I'm getting a bit claustrophobic right now so...

LETS PLAY KING OF THE AUNTIE BET!

Um, no, that's not a good idea...

OW, who is on my tail!  Get off my tail!

SHHHH!  REMEMBER, WE'RE PLAYING HIDE AND SEEK, SO YOU SAID WE HAVE TO BE QUIET!

Um... you found me, so the need for quiet is over, and ...

THIS IS A GREAT HIDING SPOT AUNTIE BET, SO WE'LL HIDE HERE AND YOU GO FIND US NOW!

sigh
