The topic of conversation around the household lately has been winter plans.
This is Bait's plan for the winter -
That is a heat register he is laying on. Notice his ample 'winter weight' butt covers the whole thing.
This was what Bet is planning on -
Ambitious, I know.
And this is what Kara has on her schedule -
Did you expect anything else from Kara??
Our plans are alittle more ambitious.
With Richard capably holding down things at the kennel, Mark and I are heading to Alaska December 30th.
The plan is to scramble up to our winter headquarters at Jan DeNapoli's Muzzy's Place Kennels outside of Fairbanks. We will have a day or so to unpack and get settled in before heading down to Glennallen for the Copper Basin 300.
Entries are already in for both Mark and I to field teams in this one!!!
After the CB we will be heading back to Fairbanks. Mark will be kicking around for a week or so, then he has to fly back home for a few weeks of work.
He will however be back prior to February 18th, when we hope to field 2 teams in the Taiga 300. (Entries for that aren't in yet, but we are hoping to have that organized soon!).
Then it will be back to Muzzy's Place to get some easy runs on the dogs and pack up our stuff before heading down to Willow in the week prior to Iditarod.
We will be staying with our good friends Doug and Krista Grilliot in Willow - and yes, they have given us the 'go ahead' for our annual pre Iditarod Open House!! Wahoo!!!
And then, of course, we are planning on a NorthWapiti 'record run' to Nome!!!!
Phew - Bait and Bet say they had to nap after simply reading about 'the Plan'!!!

Whew! Lots of adventure miles planned for paws, runners....and truck tires! Good to know the able house staff (Bait, Bet and Kara) will be holding down the fort in Canada.
Once again, I'm taking notes from my role model!

I like the house crew's plan for winter!! It is so exciting to hear of your plans for heading up to Alaska. Let us know when you have an exact date for the open house!!
The Open House will be the Friday before Iditarod. Likely from 10 - 2 or 3.
